Want to walk dogs? Cuddle cats? Help the shelter? We’d love to have you join our dedicated team of volunteers!
Here’s how to get involved:
Register as a volunteer with the City of Pasadena. Click here for forms.
Attend one of two monthly volunteer orientation sessions at the shelter.
Put in five hours of general service at the shelter.
Participate in five hours of supervised / mentored work with animals.
Monday through Friday, our Animal Control Officers patrol the streets. They even help on weekends in the event of animal-related emergencies. And when they’re on duty, not only are our Animal Control Officers responsible for rescuing strays and ensuring the well-being of all pets in Pasadena, they’re responsible for enforcing the City’s ordinances.
All animals must be confined by a fence or on a leash.
Areas where animals are kept must be kept clean and sanitary.
Only two dogs and two cats allowed per household.
Cats and dogs must be vaccinated annually for rabies.
Dogs must wear a City license tag at all times.
Pasadena Animal Shelter is fortunate to work with many private, not-for-profit rescue groups that help assess, care for, and place our shelter pets in desirable homes. Some of these rescues are breed-specific, while others are need-specific. Whatever the model, we're so grateful for these rescues and their continuing, lifesaving support.
